The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 145 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Ten people were arrested. Six people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Traffic Enforcement
Yesterday, police conducted traffic enforcement on Mill Street West in Tilbury.
Seven (7) motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
Pair Charged with Theft
Last night around 8:00 p.m. police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham. The pair were located a short distance away and taken into custody.
Bailey Smith, 26 years, of Lorne Avenue in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of February 16, 2022.
Shelby Laliberte, 29 years, of Middle Line in Merlin was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was also charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and trafficking property obtained by a crime in connection with a break and enter at Access Storage on Richmond Street in Chatham, previously reported on January 26, 2022. She was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2022.
Woman Charged with Breaching Curfew
Early this morning, police located a woman on Park Avenue West in Chatham who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Through investigation, police learned that the woman was also bound by a curfew.
Alexis LeBlanc, 28 years, of Baldoon Road in Chatham was arrested on the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with failing to comply with her release conditions for breaching her curfew. She was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2022.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle on Green Line in Howard Township.
Officers located the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
Kyle Anderson, 23 years, of Lisgar Street in Ridgetown was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of February 11, 2022.
