The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 138 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Man Arrested Twice In Same Day
On Saturday, January 29, at approximately 9:22 p.m. police attended Manning Road, Chatham, in response to a call of a stolen trailer. The trailer had a GPS tracker attached, and soon after, a 29-year-old Stratford man was located with the stolen trailer, arrested for Theft and Possession over $5,000, and Driving while having his license suspended.
The Stratford man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
After his release, the man was observed walking towards a vehicle. The man sat in the driver’s seat and drove away.
Knowing the man was a suspended driver, he was located once again, arrested for driving while suspended and being in the company of someone who he was under release conditions not to communicate with. The Stratford man was transported again to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and lodged for a bail hearing.
Bail Violation
On Saturday, January 29 at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers observed a 24-year-old Chatham man walking on Keil Drive. The man was known to be subject to a previous release order, with a house arrest condition. The man was charged with breaching his previous release order and lodged at Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarter for a bail hearing.
Break and Enter
On Saturday, January 29 at approximately 7:00 a.m. police attended an office on Water Street, Wallaceburg in response to a call of a break and enter.
Investigation revealed that a television was stolen.
