Very disappointing news yesterday from the Federal Government in approving the Milton CN Intermodal facility despite serious, repeated and long-standing community, Town and Region concerns. With 325 significant adverse environmental impacts, how can this be justified?
While Milton Trudeau Liberal MP Adam Van Koeverden says he is “disappointed with this decision”, what did he do to ensure the health and safety concerns of Miltonians were listened to within his own government? Clearly not enough. He campaigned to be Milton’s voice in Ottawa, not Ottawa’s messenger of bad news to Milton!
I join with the Councillors across Milton and all Halton municipalities, the Region, the Province and former MP Honourable Lisa Raitt who fought this for years. We will fight this every step of the way. As Milton Says No community action group says in pointing to two further steps in the process, “our fight is nowhere near finished.”
