By: Laura Steiner
Halton residents 70 years of age and older can book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday March 26, 2021.
“We are making great progress with our vaccination program and we are continuing to book and vaccinate eligible residents as quickly as possible,” Halton Region Chair Garry Carr.  Appointments will be available through March and April. Residents book through Halton’s online system.   All appointments booked through the provincial system will be redirected to the Region.
Customer service is available through 311 as required. By birthdate, anyone born before 1950 may now book the appointment.  The Region asks that residents outside the age bracket refrain from booking their appointments.   There are six  Halton clinics, including one at FirstOntario Centre for the Arts, 1010 Main St. East, Milton Ontario.
“COVID-19 can spread easily and we must continue to follow public health measures,” Halton Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani said. Halton reported an increase of 44 cases of COVID19.  11 of these are from Milton.  A recent outbreak at Oliver’s Steakhouse over the weekend now includes two cases associated with Variants of Concern (VOC).  An estimated 200 people ate at the restaurant between March 8, and March 13, 2021.
