The Canadian Museum of History is recognizing the passing of W. Galen Weston at the age of 80 earlier this week.  Weston worked up until the age of 75, chair of the board at George Weston LTD in 2016.
A noted philanthropist, he also served as Chairman of the W. Garfield Weston Foundation.   The foundation gave a $2 million donation to support the museum’s completion of the Canadian History Hall.  The Hall tells the story of Canada’s history.
“The Weston family’s story is very much a Canadian one.  Like generations of Canadians, they worked hard, made sacrifices, and helped build a country known for its diversity, peace, and prosperity.  We are saddened to hear of Mr. Weston’s passing.  His legacy will be remembered by the millions of visitors to our Museum,” Acting President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of History  Caroline Dromaguet said.  The Canadian History opened in 2017.  For more information, including a virtual tour visit their website
