Tilbury man arrested over domestic violence

Police in Tilbury have arrested a young man for domestic related offences.

The 26-year-old has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Last October, he was released from court with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Tilbury woman or attend her home.

Yesterday afternoon the man attended the woman’s home, and the police were notified. Officers located the man inside the home, and he was arrested.

Through investigation police learned this was not the first incident of domestic violence in their relationship.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply

On January 22, 2022 the man was released by court with a condition to report to the Bail Supervision Program at a local agency. On January 24, 2022 he failed to report for his scheduled appointment.

Yesterday morning police located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. The 42-year-old Blenheim man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded with a future date of February 4, 2022.

Man charged with Mischief and Utter Threats

Last night the man attended a business on King St in Chatham. Due to his behaviour in the store, he was asked to leave. Upon doing so the man damaged property in the store and verbally threatened the two employees.

The man was located by police a short distance away and taken into custody. Nathan Chauvin, 29 years, of Chatham was arrested and charged with one count of mischief under $5000 and uttering threats. He was released with conditions pending a court date of March 9, 2022.

Traffic Enforcement

Yesterday morning police monitored traffic on Drovers Road and Erie Street N in Wheatley. Several vehicles were observed travelling through the area with no infractions observed.

Yesterday members of the Traffic Unit conducted enforcement throughout Chatham-Kent. Twelve motorists were stopped and charged with speeding on Bear Line Road, Queens Line, and Base Line. Nine additional motorists were stopped and charged with speeding across the Municipality. One motorist was stopped and charged with failing to stop for a red light.

Yesterday afternoon an officer on general patrol conducted traffic enforcement on Chatham Street. S. in Blenheim between Snow Ave and Stefina Line. Four motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Yesterday afternoon police monitored the school safety zone on McNaughton Avenue W. in Chatham. Thankfully no infractions were observed.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind drivers that road safety is a priority for our Police Service. Please use caution and drive according to posted speed limits.
