Police Looking for the Public Assistance

The Chatham-Kent Police Major Crime Section is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred Monday, June 6, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., at the intersection of Queen Street and Louise Street in Tilbury.

The suspect was dressed in dark clothing and fled on foot, travelling southbound on Queen Street. The victim sustained a serious, life-threatening injury.

Police ask residents in the area with video surveillance systems to check their video for any evidence captured on that night between 10:45 p.m. and 11:20 p.m.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 160 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eleven people were arrested, and six were on outstanding warrants.

 

Man Arrested for Theft  

Yesterday at 5:06 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Grand Avenue West in Chatham. It was reported the man was inside a business throwing items around. The man attempted to leave the store without paying for an item. A description of the man was provided to the police.

Police attended the area and located the man a short distance away. Police believed the man to be under the influence and unable to care for himself. 

The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested for theft, transported to police headquarters, and held until he was sober. 

 

Youth Arrested for Mischief 

Yesterday at 6:16 p.m., police responded to a residence on King Street in Chatham for a disturbance.

Through investigation, it was learned the youth was not welcome at the residence. As the youth was directed off the property, a verbal argument ensued with the homeowner. Before leaving the property, the youth pulled a knife and punctured the tires of a trailer. 

The 15-year-old Chatham youth was located, arrested, and charged with uttering threats, mischief and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date. 

 

Man Arrested for Assaulting a Police Officer  

Shortly after 6:36 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Wellington Street East in Chatham.

Upon arrival, police learned the man was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. As police attempted to assist the man, he struck the officer. 

The 56-year-old Chatham man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and assaulting a police officer. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a future court date of July 6, 2022. 

 

Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK 

On April 22, 2022, the man was released by the court on conditions to remain in his residence or on the property of his residence at all times, with specific exceptions. 

On June 9, 2022, at 1:43 a.m., the man attended police headquarters for a matter not qualifying as an exception. He advised the officer and turned himself into the police.  

The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested for failing to comply with a probation order and held for a bail hearing.
