Ontario will extend its State of Emergency until Jun 9, 2020, and all orders under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
“We are extending these emergency orders to protect the health and safety of all individuals and families as we begin to gradually and safely reopen our province,” said Premier Doug Ford. The decision comes as Ontario is in phase one of its reopening plan.
The decision includes all emergency orders including: the closure of outdoor playgrounds, public swimming pools, and outdoor water facilities. All restaurants remain closed unless offering a takeout/ delivery option.
“To build on the progress we have made to contain COVID-19, people should continue to follow these simple public health guidelines, practise physical distancing, wear a mask when it is a challenge to physical distance, and wash their hands regularly,” Ford said. The province is also advising residents to wear a mask where physical distancing isn’t possible. The province recorded an increase of 292 cases of COVID19 overnight. 15,133 tests were done yesterday.
