Halton Region is going to provide emergency child care to frontline, and healthcare workers. The decision is in response to the provincewide COVID-19 lockdown that started December 26, 2020.
“Our health care and frontline workers have made significant sacrifices in their personal lives to help others throughout the pandemic and we will do whatever it takes to make sure they are supported,” Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr said.
The spaces are being offered in partnership with the Ministry of Education, and select Halton operators. They will be funded by the province, and available at no extra cost to health care and frontline workers during the week of January 4 to 8 for school-age children.
To apply for the spaces, eligible frontline and health care workers are invited to directly contact approved operators. Spaces will be filled in the order of the applications received.
