The Region of Halton is moving to stage two of the province’s reopening process after COVID-19. As of Friday at 12:01 a.m. restaurants with patios, barbers, and hair salons can re-open their doors to customers.
“This move to stage 2 shows that as a community we have all strongly adhered to public health direction,” Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr said. Halton is one of seven additional regions added to the phase two list.
Halton’s numbers as of June 16 sit at 711 total cases, an increase of just three from yesterday. 79 are listed as “probable,” no change since yesterday. 103 cases are currently considered “active”; an increase of one over yesterday. 663 are listed as “Recovered/ Resolved.” 24 people have died of COVID-19.
Milton’s numbers as of June 16, 2020:
- 186 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 19 “probable cases.”
- 30 are considered active.
- 171 are considered recovered or resolved, and
- 4 patients have died of COVID-19.
“We still have more work to do and must stay vigilant. I encourage everyone to continue physical distancing in public outside of your social “circle”, wash your hands frequently, stay close to home as much as possible, and stay home especially if you are not well,” Halton Region Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani said. Meghani also urges anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to be tested. The Region operates the following four testing centres:
