Chatham-Kent Police have been busy responding to various incidents, including a vehicle rescue on Queens Line, multiple thefts, a vehicle pursuit, and break-and-enter investigations. Arrests were also made for outstanding warrants, bail violations, and a disturbance in Dresden. Traffic enforcement in Wheatley found no infractions, while officers continue to remind drivers to prioritize road safety.
DRIVER RESCUED AFTER VEHICLE CRASHES INTO DITCH
A driver was rescued after their vehicle drove off the road and into a water-filled ditch on Queens Line near Drake Road at around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Police responded to the scene, and upon arrival, officers immediately entered the water to assist the driver in ensuring safety. The vehicle was later removed from the ditch, and Queens Line was temporarily closed to facilitate the recovery.
The driver was uninjured in the incident. Police are reminding motorists to stay alert as road conditions can change rapidly.
WOMEN CHARGED AFTER GROCERY THEFT
Two women were arrested and charged after leaving Walmart on St. Clair Street with a cart of unpaid groceries. Police located the women shortly after and charged them with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property. Both were released with court dates.
RIDGETOWN MAN ARRESTED AFTER VEHICLE PURSUIT
A 29-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested after fleeing police in a stolen pickup truck on Selton Line. The chase ended when the truck entered a ditch. The man faces charges including possession over $5,000, dangerous driving, and flight from police. He also had outstanding warrants for breach of conditions and remains in custody.
PROPANE TANKS STOLEN IN CHATHAM BREAK-IN
Unknown suspects broke into a locked container at a St. Clair Street business around 3:30 a.m. Monday, stealing several propane tanks. Police are investigating.
NO VIOLATIONS FOUND DURING WHEATLEY TRAFFIC CHECKS
Police conducted traffic enforcement on Talbot Road, observing 33 vehicles with no infractions. Police stress the importance of road safety and urge drivers to exercise caution, especially in changing conditions.
WINDSOR MAN ARRESTED AFTER FORCING WAY INTO APARTMENT
A 25-year-old Windsor man was arrested early Sunday after forcing his way into an apartment on St. George Street, in violation of court-imposed conditions.
Police responded to the disturbance call and found the man at the scene. He was taken into custody for breaking and entering, failing to comply with a release order, and two counts of mischief.
The man, who was prohibited from being at the residence or contacting the woman who lives there, was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and is being held for a bail hearing.
WOMAN CHARGED AFTER HOSPITAL INCIDENT
A 49-year-old woman was arrested for refusing to leave a Wallaceburg hospital after being asked to do so by staff and security. She was charged under the Trespass to Property Act and released.
CHATHAM WOMAN ARRESTED FOR BAIL VIOLATION
Police arrested a 32-year-old woman on Grand Avenue West after she was found at a variety store she was prohibited from visiting under court orders.
She remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
$4,000 IN GOODS STOLEN FROM CHATHAM BUSINESS
Police are investigating a break-and-enter at a Richmond Street business where two suspects reportedly stole $4,000 worth of goods from a storage container.
FOUR ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANTS
Police executed multiple arrests related to outstanding warrants during patrols in Wallaceburg, Chatham, and Wheatley this week.
A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was taken into custody on Dufferin Avenue for failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and is awaiting a bail hearing.
In a separate incident, a 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested on Colborne Street on warrants for theft and possession charges. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
During a general patrol in Wheatley, police arrested a 41-year-old woman known to have an outstanding warrant for failing to comply. She was later released with a future court date.
Additionally, a 34-year-old Chatham woman was apprehended during a patrol on an outstanding theft warrant issued by the Essex branch of the Ontario Provincial Police. She was handed over to OPP custody for further processing.
