Chatham-Kent Municipality shuts three offices over COVID-19

Offices in Ridgetown, Tilbury, and Dresden will be closed for a minimum of five days

High levels of COVID-19 among staff members in Chatham-Kent have forced the closure of three municipal offices in the short term, effective immediately.

The offices in Ridgetown, Tilbury, and Dresden will be closed for a minimum of five days because many staff are in “COVID-19 protocols,” the Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced in a statement on Wednesday.

However, the Chatham and Dresden Service Ontario offices will remain open.

Citizens may experience delays in wait times for telephone inquiries during this reduced staffing period. This is why, the municipality is encouraging the residents to use online municipal digital service offerings, including dog tag licence renewals and Property taxes etc.

There are a total of 11 COVID-19 outbreaks across Chatham-Kent with a total of  19 people currently hopitalized across the municipality.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has so far confirmed a total of 4920 cases, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December. The World Health Organization referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
