Tilbury residents are urged to participate in the Chatham-Kent council structure and ward boundary review survey. This is an opportunity for local voices to help shape the future of local government and ensure that decisions reflect the true needs and desires of the community.
The survey aims to gather feedback on Chatham-Kent’s Council composition and ward boundaries. By participating, residents have a direct say in how their ward is represented, which will influence future council decisions.
Residents have shared their views on the importance of community involvement. John Clarke, a resident of the Tilbury area, said, “This is a chance for us to be heard finally. Too often, decisions are made without our input, and this survey is an opportunity for everyone to make a real difference.”
Residents can complete the survey online or by using physical copies, available at the public meetings on August 22nd and 28th. Physical surveys can be submitted by mail or dropped off at any Chatham-Kent Municipal Centre. For assistance or special accommodations, residents can call 311, and a Customer Service Representative will provide support.
Echoing this sentiment, a new local business owner, Raj Kumar, added, “It’s not just about what the council thinks is best. It’s about what the people of Tilbury need and want. I encourage everyone to take the time to complete this survey, as it’s a chance to shape our future.”
The first round of consultations ends on September 12th, 2024. A second round, in November, will seek input on draft boundary options and council composition.
As part of Chatham-Kent, Tilbury Ward No. 1 is represented on the municipal council, and decisions affecting the area are made through local government structures. The ongoing Chatham-Kent Council Structure and Ward Boundary Review seeks input from residents to ensure their concerns are addressed in future decisions, making the participation of Tilbury residents crucial for the area’s representation.
