How Chatham-Kent will move in the future is soon to be mapped out in the municipality’s Mobility Master Plan.

According to a municipal media release, the plan will align with updates to the Chatham-Kent’s Growth Strategy and Official Plan to support future transportation growth over the next 20 years.

Its focus will be on practical, targeted improvements to make the best use of existing roads and infrastructure. That includes improving route connections, street design and how the system operates.

Mayor Darrin Canniff said responding to C-K’s transportation needs through the Mobility Master Plan is essential as the municipality continues to grow and evolve.

“By planning ahead, we can create safer, more connected communities and ensure residents, businesses and visitors can move efficiently throughout the municipality,” Canniff stated. “This work will help support quality of life and economic opportunity across Chatham-Kent for years to come.”

The public will be provided with ongoing opportunities for engagement to shape the plan. The first Public Information Centre session will take place April 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Links of Kent in Chatham at 120 Indian Creek Rd. W. All of the content will be available to review online and comments are invited from April 14 to April 28 for those unable to attend in person.
