Chatham-Kent council costs top $1M

In 2025, municipally elected officials in Chatham-Kent cost taxpayers $1,007,085.

 

That includes $848,412 in honorariums, $75,555 in honorarium-related benefits, $18,501 in office equipment costs and $64,617 in travel costs.

 

Mayor Darrin Canniff led the way with a $132,632 honorarium, with the rest of council pocketing $41,921 last year. His honorarium-related benefits were $22,561, with the rest of council receiving $3,103. 

 

Chatham Coun. Alysson Storey led the way in travel costs with $13,548 in spending, followed by West Kent’s Lauren Anderson with $11,351, and Canniff with $9,962.

 

Storey represents the municipality at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and Anderson serves on the board of directors for the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative. Both positions require travel out of Ontario.
