Chatham-Kent has paved the way for the construction of a new Kent-Erie Glass & Lock facility at 800 Junction Ave. in Chatham.
At its March 23 meeting, council approved a Community Improvement Plan (CIP) property tax increment equivalent grant agreement offsetting tax increases as a result of improvements due to the development of an employment-use property.
According to a report from administration, total construction value for the new build is estimated at more than $2.4 million.
Economic Development Services director Stuart McFadden said he’s pleased to see the company grow.
“Kent-Erie Glass & Lock have been serving the community for over 30 years and it’s wonderful to see them expanding their operations in a new facility at 800 Junction Ave. in Chatham,” McFadden said in an email statement. “Council approved Phase 1 of 3 planned for this site and we appreciate Kent-Erie Glass & Lock’s investment and belief in Chatham-Kent.
“The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) was created to inspire development and support business owners that choose to build new facilities or expand their current footprint which creates new jobs,” McFadden said.
