POLICE BLOTTER: Chatham-Kent Police Report Series of Arrests in Weapons Call, Thefts, Warrants and Disturbances

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to multiple incidents between Nov. 28 and Dec. 4, resulting in several arrests across the municipality.

On Nov. 28, police were called to Communication Road in Harwich Township after reports of a driver waving and pointing a handgun at motorists while driving dangerously. Officers located the vehicle near Fairview Line and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. After several minutes of communication, the 20-year-old Blenheim man exited the vehicle and was arrested. A search of the vehicle uncovered a Glock-style BB gun. Police said the man became assaultive at headquarters and spat on an officer. He faces eight charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, dangerous operation, assaulting a peace officer and charges related to an unrelated fuel theft. He was transported to the South West Detention Centre pending a Dec. 2 court appearance.

Later that day, officers located a 27-year-old Chatham man on Duke Street who was wanted for breaching a probation order after being seen with a woman he was prohibited from contacting. He was arrested and released with conditions and a Dec. 30 court date.

Police responding to a noise complaint on Merritt Avenue in Chatham later identified a 30-year-old man wanted for uttering threats against a 17-year-old Leamington youth and his family. He was arrested and released with a Dec. 29 court date.

On Nov. 29, police were called to a residence on Hiram Street in Wallaceburg after a disturbance involving a 44-year-old man who was on probation and barred from attending the residence or contacting the victim, a 70-year-old man. The accused was arrested and released with a Dec. 30 court date.

Officers later arrested a 32-year-old Chatham man after he allegedly stole items from a gas station on Grand Avenue West and was found in possession of the merchandise. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime and released with a Dec. 23 court date.

On Nov. 30, a 32-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested on Park Avenue East after surveillance footage identified her as a suspect in the theft of a cellphone left behind at a restaurant. She was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property and released with conditions.

On Dec. 2, police were notified by the Canada Border Services Agency that a 37-year-old Wallaceburg man wanted on an intimate partner violence warrant was in custody at the Windsor Tunnel. He was arrested by CKPS officers and later released with conditions and a Jan. 6, 2026 court date.

Officers responding to a disturbance on Harvey Street in Chatham later arrested a 22-year-old man who initially provided a false name and fled the residence. He was charged with obstruction and failing to comply with a release order and held for bail.

On Dec. 3, officers located a 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man on Margaret Avenue following reports of a suspicious person entering an unlocked vehicle. A large quantity of stolen items was found in his possession. He was charged with theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle and released with a Dec. 29 court date.

Police and fire crews responded to a fire on Churchill Park Road in Chatham the same day. Officers found a shattered patio door and evidence of a fire believed to have started in patio furniture. Witnesses reported seeing a man defecating on the patio shortly before the fire. Through surveillance, police identified a 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man, who was arrested for arson and committing an indecent act. He is being held for a bail hearing.

A 31-year-old woman was later arrested at a Wellington Street West store for allegedly stealing bottles of alcohol and breaching a probation condition prohibiting her from attending the premises. She was held for a bail hearing.

In Wallaceburg, police arrested a 74-year-old man for impaired driving after he allegedly drove through a ditch and into a field on Langstaff Line. He failed a breath test and was released on conditions with a Dec. 23 court date.

On Dec. 4, officers responded to a reported assault in Dresden after a verbal dispute escalated. A 39-year-old Dresden woman allegedly threw a bag containing several items toward a 36-year-old Corunna man, hitting a nearby window. She was arrested and released with a Jan. 14, 2026 court date.

Earlier that morning, a 49-year-old man and a 36-year-old man were arrested on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg on outstanding warrants related to fraudulent purchases made using a stolen credit card. Both were charged with fraud under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime and released with Jan. 15 court dates.

In Blenheim, officers responded to a disturbance involving a 54-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman from Harwich Township. Police said the argument escalated into a physical altercation. The man was charged with assault and sexual assault and given a Jan. 12, 2026 court date. The woman was charged with assault and given a Jan. 19 court date.
