The Chatham-Kent Police, along with the Critical Incident Response Team, executed two search warrants as part of an ongoing drug investigation and arrested a driver at the scene.

The warrants, issued under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, targeted a vehicle and a short-term rental property on Erie Shore Drive in Blenheim. The vehicle’s driver was renting the property.

During a systematic search of both the vehicle and residence, police uncovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Seized items included fentanyl with a street value exceeding $500,000, cocaine worth approximately $42,000, $2,000 in cash, mobile devices, a digital scale, packaging materials, and a conductive energy weapon.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Maxwell Goobie of Burnaby, BC, was arrested at the scene.

He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Goobie was remanded into custody following the hearing and transferred to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

Goobie is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of possession of a controlled substance for trafficking and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon. Police continue to investigate the scope of the operation.
