Costco Recalls Greek Yogurt in Canada Over Mold Concerns

Costco is recalling its Kirkland Signature Greek yogurt due to potential contamination concerns. If you purchased Greek yogurt from Costco, it could be part of a nationwide recall.

The recall, announced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on Friday, affects several provinces, including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

According to the CFIA, the recalled Kirkland Signature-branded yogurt was sold in 24-packs with a printed UPC of “0 96619 22215 5” and a best-before date of Aug. 10, 2024, marked as “2024 AU 10.”

The CFIA advises consumers to check their refrigerators for the recalled product. If found, they should not consume the yogurt and should return it to any Costco location for a full refund. The recall notice indicates that while the microbial contamination is “non-harmful,” it affects the product’s quality and spoilage. To reduce the risk of food poisoning, it’s best to avoid food with unusual mould growth.

In a statement, Costco assured customers it is fully cooperating with the CFIA to prioritize public safety. “The safety and quality of our products is a top priority, and we are taking swift action to address the issue,” the company said.

This recall follows several similar incidents in recent months involving food product contamination. Consumers are encouraged to stay informed through the CFIA’s website and monitor updates on the investigation.
