CK police make multiple arrests in string of gasoline thefts, driving offences

In a series of coordinated arrests, Chatham-Kent Police apprehended multiple suspects involved in various criminal activities, including gasoline theft, driving offences, and failure to attend court. Surveillance footage identified two individuals responsible for a string of fuel thefts, while others were caught for separate offences such as assault, break-ins, and bail violations. Several suspects await court dates, with some already remanded into custody for further hearings.

ARRESTS MADE IN THEFT OF GASOLINE

Chatham-Kent Police have arrested two individuals linked to a string of gasoline thefts from local gas stations. The incidents on August 16, 18, and 27, 2024, were connected through investigations, and surveillance footage helped identify the suspects. On September 4, 2024, a 34-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man from Chatham voluntarily turned themselves in at police headquarters. The woman faces two counts of theft and possession of stolen property, while the man faces three counts. Both were released with conditions and are scheduled to appear in court on October 7, 2024.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR BAIL VIOLATION

A 45-year-old Chatham woman was arrested at 9:00 a.m. for violating her bail conditions. She breached a non-association condition by being in contact with a prohibited individual. After her arrest, she was taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where she was held for a bail hearing.

MAN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO ATTEND COURT

Police arrested a 32-year-old man on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg. The man wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court related to a January 2024 mischief case, was transported to police headquarters and remanded into custody pending a September 27, 2024, video court appearance. In a separate incident, a 23-year-old Chatham man was arrested in Sarnia on a warrant for failing to attend court in connection to a March 2024 impaired driving case. Both men remain in custody pending their court hearings.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DRIVING OFFENSES

A 39-year-old Highgate man fled from police during a traffic stop on Longwoods Road, where an ALPR detected that he was driving with a suspended license. Later that night, he was located on Queen Street in Highgate. He was arrested and charged with flight from police. He was released with conditions and will face several traffic charges in court on October 7, 2024.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

Police responded to a domestic disturbance on O’Neill Line in Morpeth. Following a verbal altercation that escalated into physical contact, a 64-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested for pushing a man. She was taken into custody, charged with assault, and released with a court date of October 1, 2024.

MAN ARRESTED FOR BREAK-AND-ENTER

A 37-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested after police responded to a break-and-enter on Esterville Road in Dresden. The man, known to the homeowner, was found hiding on the property and provided a false name upon arrest. Stolen house and car keys were recovered during the search. He has been charged with obstruction and break-and-enter and will appear in court on September 23, 2024.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO ATTEND COURT

Police investigating suspicious activity on King Street East in Chatham arrested a 42-year-old woman for failing to attend court for a December 2022 drug trafficking case. She was released with a new court date of October 9, 2024, and is facing multiple charges related to drug trafficking.
