The Town of Milton is assessing the impact of new stay-at-home orders issued by the province yesterday. Premier Doug Ford announced the extension of the Stay-at-home period until May 20, 2021 in response to rising COVID-19 case numbers, which are the likely result of the presence of variants.
The following restrictions impact the Town of Milton:
As of April Saturday 17, 2021:
- Outdoor gatherings must be with members of your household only. Those who live alone may join one household.
- All outdoor recreational amenities are closed, include basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, and with limited exceptions.
- All non-essential construction is paused
As of Monday April 19:
- Weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites or ceremonies are limited to 10 people indoors or outdoor

Halton Regional Police Service to Focus on “4 E’s”
Under a new emergency order the police would have the power to stop residents, and ask them why they are away from their residences.
Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) will continue to focus on what they call the 4 e’s. “We remain committed to the four Es of enforcement: Engage-Explain-Educate-Enforce. We will not be conducting random vehicle or individual stops,” They tweeted from their corporate account.
HRPS Chief Steve Tanner tweeted a similar message. “The HRPS will not be randomly stopping vehicles for no reason during the pandemic, or afterwards (RIDE being an exception). We will work with with our citizens to maximize safety. Enforcement only when necessary.”

HRPS joins a growing list of police forces including the Toronto Police Service, and Ottawa Police Service in refusing to randomly stop residents.
